WARREN THOMAS
Head Golf Professional
Growing up near Owen Sound, Warren always hoped to return to his golf roots after he graduated from university. Fifteen years later with a well established private club pedigree, Warren is back home as the Head Golf Professional for Cobble Beach Golf Links.
Warren began his career as an assistant at the private Idylwylde Golf Club in 1995 at the same time he joined the Canadian Professional Golf Association. Professional positions at York Downs and the Thornhill Golf and Country Club, and the opportunity to be the Director of Golf for Horseshoe Resort’s 36-hole semi-private golf club, accelerated his private club experience – and made him a perfect choice for Head Golf Professional for a course of the caliber of Cobble Beach.
STEVE BARBER
Associate Golf Professional
Raised in Stratford, Steve can thank his father for his golf career. He had Steve swinging a club at the age of 10, which set him on course to university in Oklahoma on a golf scholarship. While living in the U.S., Steve played on several mini tours and qualified for the NGA Hooters tour in Florida in 1999.
Steve has worked at several prestigious courses in Canada and the U.S., including Ipswich Country Club in Massachusetts; St. Thomas Country Club as the Assistant Professional; Stone Tree Golf and Fitness Club as the Associate Professional; and Northern Dunes Golf Club as the Director of Golf.
Steve’s passion for teaching has earned him the reputation as one of the best golf instructors in the Georgian Bay area.
Mike HcHardy
Associate Golf Professional
Mike grew up in Newmarket, Ontario, playing AAA hockey as a goalie and was always involved in
competitive sports. His love for the game of golf developed while working a few summers with
ClubLink. He enrolled in the the Professional Golf Management program at Georgian College and
upon completion, worked at Grandview and Taboo resorts in Ontario. He moved to the United States
to gain more experience and was accepted into the PGA program. Prior to returning home to Meaford
to be closer to family and friends, he was an assistant golf professional at FireRock Country Club.
Mike loves being in the golf business and enjoys his relationship with all the members,
guests and co-workers at Cobble Beach.
LUKE McKENZIE
Assistant Golf Professional
With a golf professional for a father, Luke has a natural calling for the game. After graduating from the Professional Golf Management Program at Camosun College in Victoria, he apprenticed for three years in both the lower mainland of British Columbia and in the Okanogan Valley.
Venturing south to Palm Desert California, he worked at Big Horn Golf and Country Club for six years before returning to home to Ontario where he worked for three years at Horseshoe Resort, the final two as manager of the Highlands golf course. More recently he moved to Owen Sound with his family to be part of the professional golf staff at Cobble Beach Golf Links.
Luke has played professionally on the Canadian Tour and still competes on the CPGA circuit and the Great Lakes Mini Tour. He holds the title of 2005 Spring Champion, an OPGA event.
